This strawberry lemonade started as a “let’s make regular lemonade but feel fancy about it” kind of idea.

I had strawberries that were one day away from becoming a science experiment and a bunch of lemons that I bought because I clearly overestimated how often I make lemonade.

So I thought, why not combine them? Worst case, I ruin both ingredients at once. Efficient failure.

First try, I didn’t strain the strawberries. Big mistake. It was like drinking chunky juice. Not ideal. Second try, I slowed down, strained it properly, and suddenly… wow. Sweet, tangy, refreshing, and honestly kind of addictive.

Now it’s the drink I make when I want something that feels like effort but is really just me blending stuff and hoping for the best.

Why I Keep Making This Dish (Real Reasons)

  • Feels Fancy: Looks like something from a café. It’s not.
  • Sweet and Tangy Combo: That balance just works every time.
  • Great for Hot Days: Basically survival juice.
  • Uses Up Fruit: Perfect for strawberries that need a purpose.
  • Big Batch Friendly: One round lasts a while.
  • Hard to Mess Up: Even my weird ratios sometimes still taste good.
  • Everyone Likes It: No convincing needed.

Equipments Required

  1. Blender
  2. Fine mesh strainer
  3. Medium saucepan
  4. Large pitcher
  5. Knife
  6. Juicer (optional)

Ingredients Required

  1. 2 c. strawberries
  2. 2 c. lemon juice about 10 lemons
  3. 2 c. sugar
  4. 7 c. water divided

Instructions

Step 1: Prep strawberries: Wash, remove stems, and cut into quarters.

Step 2: Blend strawberries: Combine strawberries with 1 cup water in a blender and puree until smooth.

Step 3: Strain mixture: Push puree through a fine mesh strainer to remove seeds and pulp. Set aside.

Step 4: Juice lemons: Cut lemons and extract 2 cups of lemon juice.

Step 5: Make syrup: In a saucepan, combine sugar, 2 cups water, and used lemon halves. Bring to a boil, then remove from heat and let cool covered.

Step 6: Mix everything: In a large pitcher, combine strawberry puree, lemon juice, simple syrup, and remaining 4 cups water.

Step 7: Serve: Garnish with lemon slices and strawberries. Pour over ice and enjoy.

Tips I Learned the Hard Way

  1. Strain the Puree: Unless you enjoy chewing your drink. I don’t.
  2. Cool the Syrup First: Hot syrup ruins the whole refreshing thing.
  3. Taste Before Final Mix: Adjust sweetness or tartness early.
  4. Use Ripe Strawberries: Makes a huge difference in flavor.
  5. Don’t Skip the Lemon Halves in Syrup: Adds extra depth. Surprisingly helpful.
  6. Add Water Slowly: You can always dilute more, not less.
  7. Chill It Well: Warm lemonade is just confusing.
  8. Balance Is Everything: Too sweet or too sour and it’s not fun anymore.

  5. Fresh Garnish Later: Add fruit when serving.
  6. Best Cold: Always better chilled properly.

You can, but fresh tastes way better.

It probably needs more lemon or a pinch of salt.

The Last Bite

This is one of those drinks that feels like a small win.

It’s bright, refreshing, and just messy enough to remind me I made it myself. Which, honestly, is kind of the point.

If it’s not perfect the first time, congrats. You’re doing it right.
