I made this drink after one of those long afternoons where the weather felt personally aggressive.
I had strawberries that were about one day away from becoming “smoothie ingredients,” leftover coconut rum from a party nobody really remembers clearly, and exactly zero motivation to do anything complicated.
So naturally, I started throwing things into a shaker.
The first version was way too sweet. The second one tasted like sunscreen somehow. But the third? Cold, fruity, coconut-y perfection. Basically a strawberry daiquiri that decided to relax a little.
Now this is the drink I make when I want vacation energy without actually leaving my kitchen.
Table of Contents
Why I Keep Making This Dish (Real Reasons)
Tastes Like Summer: Even if the weather outside disagrees.
Dangerously Easy to Drink: Which feels important to mention.
Refreshing Without Trying Too Hard: No blender chaos required.
Strawberries Save Everything: They just do.
Looks Fancy, Isn’t: Crushed ice does most of the work.
Quick to Make: Faster than deciding what movie to watch.
Equipments Required
Cocktail Shaker: For mixing everything together
Muddler or Wooden Spoon: To crush the strawberries
Serving Glasses: Margarita, rocks, or whatever’s clean
Strainer: Helps keep things smooth
Measuring Jigger or Small Cup: Close enough works too
Ingredients Required
Coconut Water: 6 fl oz
Coconut Rum: 2 fl oz
Light Rum: 1 ½ fl oz
Cream of Coconut: 1 fl oz
Lime Juice: 1 fl oz
Strawberries (Chopped): 7
Instructions
Fill Glasses with Ice: Crushed ice works best.
Muddle Strawberries: Add chopped strawberries to the shaker and crush them gently to release the juices.
Add Remaining Ingredients: Pour in coconut water, coconut rum, light rum, cream of coconut, and lime juice.
Add Ice to Shaker: About 6 ice cubes is enough.
Shake Well: Shake hard for about 5 seconds until cold.
Double Strain: Pour into prepared glasses over crushed ice.
Serve Immediately: Preferably while pretending you’re somewhere tropical.
Tips I Learned the Hard Way
Don’t Over-Muddle: Strawberry chunks everywhere sounds fun until the straw clogs.
Use Fresh Lime Juice: Bottled lime juice tastes a little sad here.
Shake Hard: The cream of coconut needs help mixing properly.
Crushed Ice Matters: It gives that cold cocktail-bar feel.
Taste Before Serving: Some strawberries are sweeter than others.
Cold Glasses Help: Makes the drink stay refreshing longer.
Double Strain if Possible: Tiny seeds love sneaking through.
Don’t Skip Coconut Water: It balances the sweetness nicely.
