Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/3 cup diced onion
  • 28 ounces canned diced tomatoes undrained
  • 28 ounces canned tomato sauce
  • 1 tablespoon salted butter
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • Pinch of granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Equipment

Method
 

  1. Cook the Pasta (if needed):
  2. If not already prepared, cook the macaroni to al dente according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  3. Brown the Beef:
  4. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until it begins to brown.
  5. Add Onion:
  6. When the beef is about halfway cooked, add the diced onion and continue cooking until beef is fully browned and onions are softened.
  7. Add Sauce Ingredients:
  8. Stir in diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, butter, soy sauce, sugar, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  9. Simmer:
  10. Reduce heat to low and let the mixture simmer for 20 minutes.
  11. Combine with Pasta:
  12. Add the cooked macaroni to the skillet and mix until evenly coated.
  13. Finish and Serve:
  14. Top with shredded cheddar cheese if desired and serve immediately.
