Ingredients
  

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ cup butter at room temperature

  • 3 large eggs at room temperature

Method
 

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch baking pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, stir together the flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, and baking soda.
  3. Add the butter and cut it into the flour mixture using a pastry cutter or fork until the mixture becomes crumbly.
  4. Stir the raisins into the flour mixture.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the buttermilk and eggs.
  6. Pour the egg mixture into the flour mixture and gently mix until a soft dough forms.
  7. Transfer the dough into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.
  8. Bake for 45 minutes to 1 hour, or until the bread has risen and the top is golden brown.
  9. Insert a knife or toothpick into the center; it should come out clean when the bread is done.
  10. Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then remove and place on a wire rack.
  11. Slice and serve warm.
