Ingredients
  

Lemon Drop Martini
  • 2 ounces ¼ cup quality vodka (citron vodka recommended)
  • ¾ ounce 1½ tablespoons Cointreau or triple sec
  • 1 ounce 2 tablespoons fresh squeezed lemon juice (from about ½ large lemon)
  • ¾ ounce 1½ tablespoons simple syrup
  • Ice for shaking
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • Zest from 1 lemon

  • Martini glass
  • Cocktail shaker
  • Strainer
  • Measuring jigger or measuring spoons
  • Plate (for lemon sugar)
  • Zester or grater
  • Knife
  • Citrus juicer (optional)

Method
 

Make Lemon Sugar
  1. Add the granulated sugar to a plate.
  2. Rub the lemon zest into the sugar using your fingers until the mixture becomes fragrant and lightly yellow.
Prepare the Martini
  1. Moisten the rim of a chilled martini glass with the juiced lemon.
  2. Turn the glass upside down and twist it into the lemon sugar to coat the rim.
  3. Set the prepared glass aside.
  4. Add vodka, Cointreau (or triple sec), lemon juice, simple syrup, and a handful of ice into a cocktail shaker.
  5. Shake vigorously for about 30 seconds or until the mixture is very cold.
  6. Strain the cocktail into the prepared martini glass.
  7. Serve immediately.
