Ingredients

  • 14 ounces broccoli
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • salt and ground black pepper to taste

Equipment

  • Cutting board
  • Sharp knife
  • Large mixing bowl
  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper (optional)
  • Oven mitts

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and gather all your ingredients so everything is ready to go.
  2. Cut the broccoli florets from the main stalk.
  3. Peel the tough outer layer of the stalk, then slice it into thin ¼-inch pieces so nothing goes to waste.
  4. Add florets and sliced stalk pieces to a mixing bowl. Drizzle with olive oil, season with salt and pepper, and toss until everything is lightly coated.
  5. Spread the broccoli in a single layer on a baking sheet so it roasts evenly.
  6. Roast for 18–20 minutes, or until the edges turn golden brown and the broccoli becomes tender and slightly crisp.
  7. Serve warm and enjoy!
