Ingredients

  • 1 large Boneless skinless chicken breast
  • 1/2 cup All-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp Garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 Large egg
  • 2 tbsp Milk
  • Canola oil or peanut oil for frying
  • 1/3 cup Sweet chili sauce
  • 1 carrot Julienned for garnish
  • Fresh cilantro chopped for garnish
  • Sesame seeds for garnish

Equipment

  • Deep skillet or frying pan
  • Tongs or slotted spoon
  • Paper towels
  • Two shallow bowls
  • Mixing spoon
  • Large bowl (for tossing)

Method

  1. Pour 1–2 inches of oil into a deep skillet and heat to 350°F (175°C). Cut the chicken breast into bite-sized pieces and set aside.
  2. In one shallow bowl, mix flour, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. In another, whisk together the egg, milk, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Dip each chicken piece in the flour, then the egg mixture, and back in the flour to coat evenly.
  3. Fry the coated chicken pieces in the hot oil for 3–4 minutes per side, or until golden and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  4. Transfer the fried chicken to a large bowl, toss with sweet chili sauce, and garnish with sesame seeds, chopped cilantro, and julienned carrot. Serve warm.
