  • 4 1/2 cups 1,080ml whole milk
  • 3 tablespoons 43g unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 24 –30 Oreo cookies
  • 24 gummy worms

Equipment

  • Medium saucepan
  • Whisk
  • Heatproof bowl
  • Plastic wrap
  • Food processor or blender
  • Serving cups / trifle dish / baking dish
  • Spoon or spatula

Method

  1. Make the Chocolate Pudding
  2. In a medium saucepan, whisk together sugar, cocoa powder, cornstarch, and salt.
  3. Place over medium heat and slowly pour in milk while whisking until fully combined.
  4. Bring to a boil, whisking occasionally (about 10 minutes). Do not increase heat.
  5. Once bubbling in the center, whisk constantly and boil for 1 minute until thickened.
  6. Remove from heat and whisk in butter and vanilla.
  7. Chill the Pudding
  8. Pour pudding into a heatproof bowl and let sit for 5 minutes.
  9. Place plastic wrap directly on the surface to prevent a skin.
  10. Refrigerate for 1 hour (it should still be slightly soft for layering).
  11. Prepare Oreo Crumbs
  12. Pulse Oreo cookies in a food processor or blender until fine crumbs form.
  13. Assemble the Dessert
  14. Add a layer of Oreo crumbs to the bottom of each cup (a few tablespoons).
  15. Spoon about 1/4 cup pudding over crumbs.
  16. Add another layer of Oreo crumbs, followed by more pudding.
  17. Finish with a top layer of Oreo crumbs.
  18. Add gummy worms on top.
  19. Chill and Serve
  20. Refrigerate uncovered for at least 3 hours (up to 48 hours).
  21. Serve chilled.
  22. Do not rush pudding cooking; proper thickening requires steady heat.
  23. Whole milk gives the best texture and richness.
  24. Layer in clear cups for a more appealing presentation.
